Today we are going to build a simple circuit that automatically controls a light bulb using a photocell, also known as a light-dependent resistor. A photocell is a special resistor whose electrical resistance decreases when light shines on it and increases when it gets dark, making it perfect for automatic lighting control. To build this circuit, you will need a photocell, a transistor, a resistor, a light bulb, a battery, and a few connecting wires to tie everything together. Connect the photocell and the resistor in series between the positive terminal of the battery and the base of the transistor to form a voltage divider that senses light. Connect the light bulb between the positive supply and the collector of the transistor, and connect the emitter of the transistor back to the negative terminal of the battery to complete the circuit. When it gets dark, the photocell resistance rises, the transistor switches on, and the light bulb turns on automatically. When light returns, the bulb switches off. Your smart lighting circuit is complete and ready to use!
