Have you ever wondered how a tractor engine works, giving it the power to pull heavy loads across the field? First, air and fuel are mixed and pulled into the engine cylinder as the piston moves down during the intake stroke. Next, the piston moves back up, squeezing the air and fuel mixture tightly together in the compression stroke. Then a spark ignites the mixture, causing a small explosion that pushes the piston down with great force during the power stroke. Finally, the piston rises again, pushing the burnt gases out through the exhaust valve in the exhaust stroke. As this cycle repeats again and again, the engine stays cool thanks to a radiator circulating water around the hot metal parts. This repeating motion turns the crankshaft, which transfers power through gears to the wheels, giving the tractor its strong pulling force.
