So Finn has this totally cursed Grass Sword stuck to his arm, and honestly, it is way more trouble than it is worth from the very beginning. One day the sword goes absolutely haywire, wraps around Finn's whole arm, and rips it clean off — which is wild even by Adventure Time standards. The Grass Demon living inside the sword grabs the arm and escapes into the world, looking extremely pleased with itself and very creepy about the whole situation. Meanwhile, a copy of Finn gets trapped inside his magical Finn Sword, and somehow the Grass Demon merges with that tiny sword Finn to create one very confused new being. The result is Fern — a grass-covered copy of Finn who has all his memories but none of his chill, and he is immediately having a very bad identity crisis.
