Hello everyone, and welcome to Laboratory No. 3. Today, our topic is pits in the plant cell wall. These thinner regions facilitate the movement of water and minerals between adjacent cells. When a pit occurs in one cell, the neighboring cell often has a corresponding depression at the same location. Together, these form a pit pair, helping water and substances move between cells. A pit is where the secondary wall is absent, leaving a thin area. The two pit regions are separated by a pit membrane of primary wall and middle lamella, regulating water and mineral movement.
