Welcome back to Scariest Mythical Creatures. Today we wade into the dark waters of Scotland to meet the Kelpie. The Kelpie appears as a beautiful black horse, grazing calmly near rivers and lochs, waiting patiently for a lonely traveler. It tempts tired travelers to climb onto its back, offering what seems like a free and friendly ride home. But once mounted, the rider's hands stick fast to its skin, and escape instantly becomes utterly impossible for them. The Kelpie then gallops wildly into the deep water, dragging its helpless victim down beneath the churning surface. Legends say it can also shift into a handsome human, luring victims close before transforming back near the shore. So beware still waters, for the Kelpie waits silently below, making it one of the scariest mythical creatures ever told.
