The Puppy Plush's Last Journey

Timmy had one favorite thing in the whole world — a soft, fluffy puppy plush he had named Biscuit, who went absolutely everywhere with him. One afternoon, Biscuit was riding in a cardboard box on the back of a pickup truck, when a sudden bump sent him tumbling off the edge and down onto the wet, muddy road below. The first car rolled right over Biscuit, pressing him deep into the cold mud, leaving a dark tire track across his once-soft, clean body for the very first time. Then a second car hit him, and a third, each one tearing a new rip into his seams — his ear split open, his leg stitching unraveled, and stuffing began to slowly poke out. By the time the fifth and sixth vehicles had passed, Biscuit was barely recognizable — soaked through with mud, flattened, and torn in so many places that his stuffing lay scattered around him on the road. Timmy searched everywhere for Biscuit that evening, calling out and retracing every step, his little heart sinking deeper with every empty-handed moment that passed without finding his beloved friend. When Timmy finally found Biscuit lying broken and muddy in the road, he picked him up gently, held him close with tears in his eyes, and whispered that he would fix him and never let go again.
