Have you ever wondered how computers send data over a network? When you open a website or send a message, your information doesn't travel as one giant piece. At the Ethernet level, data is organized into smaller units called frames, and each frame has fields with a specific job. An Ethernet frame begins with the preamble and SFD, which synchronize the receiver and mark the frame's boundary. Then come the destination and source MAC addresses, identifying receiver and sender. Next, the Type or Length field reveals the protocol, followed by the payload carrying the actual data, and finally the FCS checks for transmission errors. So remember: preamble, SFD, destination MAC, source MAC, type or length, payload, and FCS. Together, these fields let networks deliver data reliably from one computer to another, every single time, forming the complete order of an Ethernet frame from start to finish.

Understanding Ethernet Frame Structure was created with Whiteboard Video Maker, the AI doodle video maker that turns any prompt, PDF, Word document, image or URL into an engaging whiteboard animation video — complete with AI script, hand-drawn illustrations and a natural voiceover.
