Public bathrooms are literally one of the few places on Earth where farting should be completely, one hundred percent socially acceptable — that is basically the whole point of the room. But the moment you sit down and feel it coming, your entire body freezes — because suddenly, someone walks into the stall right next to yours. Now it is no longer just a fart — it is a live performance, and your brain immediately starts negotiating: maybe hold it, maybe they leave, maybe we just quietly cease to exist. But your stomach has absolutely no interest in diplomacy, and it sends one very clear message straight upward: this is happening, and it is happening right now. So you try everything to cover the sound — you cough loudly, you flush early, you even shift slightly to the left, as if a different angle could somehow change the acoustics of the universe. And when it finally escapes, it sounds like a royal trumpet fanfare — followed by total silence, as you and the stranger both pretend absolutely nothing happened, even though you both know history was just made.
